Privacy Policy
Last updated August 22, 2026.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information FeastFolk LLC ("FeastFolk," "we," "us," or "our") collects through the FeastFolk mobile application (the "Platform"), how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It’s incorporated into our Terms of Service.
We collect only what we need to run a marketplace connecting home cooks ("Hosts") and the people who discover and reserve their food ("Guests") — identity and account information, listing and reservation details, and the device permissions (location, photos, contacts, notifications) you specifically grant for the features that use them.
2. Information you provide
Account information: when you sign up, we receive your email address and name from our identity provider, Clerk, whether you sign in with an email or phone one-time code, Google, or Apple. If you sign in with Apple, Apple only shares your name and email with us the first time you authorize the app — see Apple’s own privacy terms for details.
Profile and Host information: if you become a Host, we collect the information needed to create and pay out a Host profile, such as your kitchen/location city, bio, and payout details (handled by our payment processor — see Section 4).
Listing content: dish photos, names, ingredients, allergens, descriptions, prices, and schedules you or a Host enter, including photos you submit to the AI dish-scan feature (see Section 3).
Messages: the content of messages you send in an in-app reservation thread.
Reviews and support requests: anything you submit when leaving a review, replying to one, or contacting support.
3. The AI photo-scan feature
If you use the photo-scan feature to help draft a new listing, the photo you capture is sent to a third-party AI vision service to generate a proposed dish name, cuisine, ingredients, allergens, and description. We share only the image and the minimum context needed to generate that proposal — we do not send your account identity to the AI provider as part of that request.
The AI provider processes the image to return a result to the app; it is not used to publish anything automatically; see our Terms of Service, Section 13, for how that proposal is reviewed before publishing. Refer to [AI provider name]’s own privacy terms for how they handle content submitted to their API.
4. Payment information
Payments are handled by a third-party payment processor. FeastFolk does not receive or store your full card number; we receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, its amount, and the transaction identifiers needed to reconcile reservations and Host payouts.
5. Location
With your permission, we collect your device’s location to show nearby listings and calculate distance to a pickup or event. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device’s system settings — some discovery features (like sorting by distance) will be limited without it.
6. Contacts
If you choose to invite someone or gift Flavor Tokens from your device’s contact list, we access your contacts only after you grant that OS-level permission, and only to power that specific screen — reading each contact’s name and the phone number or email you select. We do not upload or store your full address book, and we do not access contacts for any other purpose.
7. Push notifications
If you allow notifications, we register a device push token with Apple’s or Google’s push notification service so we can deliver things like reservation confirmations, pickup reminders, new messages, and payout notices. You can turn notifications off entirely in your device settings, or manage specific categories in the app’s Settings.
8. Device and usage information
We automatically collect some technical information needed to run and troubleshoot the app: device type and operating system version, app version, crash and error logs, and basic in-app activity (such as which screens are used) needed for reliability and product improvement.
9. How we use your information
To operate the marketplace: creating and authenticating your account, showing and ranking nearby listings, processing reservations, coordinating pickups, calculating and issuing Host payouts, and enabling in-app messaging between a Guest and Host for a confirmed reservation.
To communicate with you: sending service and account notices (in-app and via push notification), responding to support requests, and, where you’ve agreed to it, letting you know about relevant features or listings.
To keep the Platform safe: detecting fraud, abuse, and Terms violations, including reviewing no-show patterns and content reports.
To improve the Platform: understanding how features are used and fixing problems, generally using aggregated or de-identified data where possible.
10. How we share information
With other users, as needed to complete a transaction: a Guest sees a Host’s public profile and listing details; a Host sees a Guest’s name and reservation details (portions, pickup time) needed to prepare and hand off an order. Message-thread content is visible only to the Guest and Host on that reservation.
With service providers who help us run the Platform: Clerk (identity and authentication), a third-party AI vision provider (dish photo analysis, per Section 3), a payment processor, and Apple/Google push-notification infrastructure. These providers may only use your information to provide their service to us.
For legal and safety reasons: if we believe disclosure is required by law, needed to enforce our Terms, or necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of FeastFolk, our users, or the public.
In a business transfer: if FeastFolk is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy (or a policy providing at least the same protections).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising purposes.
11. How long we keep information
Reservation message threads are ephemeral by design: a thread opens once a reservation is confirmed, closes automatically two hours after the pickup window ends, stays read-only for a further 24 hours, and is then permanently deleted.
We retain account, listing, and transaction information for as long as your account is active, and afterward for as long as needed to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can request deletion sooner — see Section 12.
12. Your rights and choices
You can review and update most of your profile information directly in the app. You can revoke location, contacts, photo, or notification permissions at any time in your device’s system settings.
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or ask us to export it, by contacting [privacy@feastfolk.com]. We will honor these requests subject to legitimate exceptions (for example, we may need to retain transaction records for tax purposes even after you delete your account).
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation, including the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. [Insert region-specific rights language and a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" mechanism if the user base includes California residents, once counsel confirms applicability.]
13. Children’s privacy
FeastFolk is not directed to children, and you must be at least 18 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn we have, we will delete it. Contact us at [privacy@feastfolk.com] if you believe a child has provided us information.
14. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including relying on Clerk’s Keychain/Keystore-backed credential storage on your device and encrypted connections to our services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
15. International data transfers
FeastFolk and the service providers we use may process information in countries other than your own, which may have different data protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
16. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we’ll provide reasonable notice, such as an in-app notice or an update to the "last updated" date below.
